Provincial Nominee Programs

The Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) have been set up in most provinces in Canada. The program aims to quicken immigration processing for Canadian provinces’ needs.

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is designed to enable provinces and territories to support the immigration of people who have expressed an interest in settling in their province or territory. The province or territory believes that these people will be able to contribute to the economic development and prosperity of that province or territory and Canada.  Each province and territory has its own “streams” (immigration programs that target certain groups) and requirements

The Canadian government can nominate immigrants who wish to live, settle, and work in a particular Canadian province

Few examples,

  • British Columbia province runs a Tech Pilot PNP stream because the province has a growing tech sector in need of more workers.
  • Nova Scotia province has a PNP specifically dedicated to attracting doctors because the province needs more medical professionals.
  • Ontario’s Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream is one of the most popular PNP streams. It offers an easy immigration pathway for workers with skilled work experience, education, and language abilities.

Process

You can apply for a PNP program by applying directly to a PNP program – the province will review your application based on their selection criteria and points system. If your application is found to be a suitable candidate, the province will issue a nomination letter which you have to use to apply within your federal application for permanent residence.
How you will apply depends on which Provincial Nominee Program stream you’re applying to. You might need to apply using the non-Express Entry process or through Express Entry. As part of the process, you will have to pass a medical exam and get a police check (certificate)

Remember, it is a commitment / intention to reside in a particular province that will be taken at a minimum of 5 years. Lying or moving after entering into the province of nomination before the 5-year period, may be taken as misrepresentation and you can be debarred for 5 years and removed from Canada.

Currently, we are not undertaking services for the Province of Quebec immigration programs.

There are more than 90 programs under the PNP for various provinces, Review your choices with the links for each Province:
